摘要:
Neutrinos are ghostly particle, mysteriously known for their weak interaction, flavor changing oscillation and possibly the existence of the forth member in their family, the Sterile neutrino.
Reactor electron anti-neutrino is a very promising source that can be studied for such existence and furthermore, for the potential application of non-invasive reactor monitoring. This talk will first be on the neutrino basics and then focus on the technology using plastic scintillator and ZnS(Li):Ag, adopted by the Chandler experiment in Virginia Tech. Methodology and R&D results will be described and its capacity for sterile neutrino detection will be discussed.
